A family kitchen, not a franchise
Restaurant Garuda started the way most good South Indian food does — around a family table. What we serve today on Lasalle Blvd is the same food we grew up eating: batter ground fresh, chutneys made from scratch each morning, and sambar that simmers until it's right, not until the clock says so.
There's no corporate menu here, no shortcuts dressed up as "authentic." Just a modest, welcoming dining room, a pool table for guests who want to relax after their meal, and a family that's genuinely happy to see you walk through the door — whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth.
We named the restaurant after the Garuda, the mythical eagle of South Indian tradition — a symbol of strength carried humbly. That's the spirit we try to bring to every plate: bold flavor, served without pretense.

It's the dish people drive across Sudbury for. Our Family Dosa is stretched, cooked, and rolled to a full four feet — a showstopper that arrives still crackling, ready to be torn, shared, and dipped into sambar and chutney by everyone at the table.
